Consultation on the Formal Federation of Bedlinog Community Primary School and Trelewis Primary School , 1st October 2019 – 19th November 2019
As you will be aware, Bedlinog Community Primary School and Trelewis Primary School have been working closely since November 2018 as part of an ‘informal’ arrangement. This arrangement, which has in place a shared executive Head Teacher, has allowed schools within the local area to remain in their respective communities and has ensured children from Bedlinog, Trelewis and the surrounding areas are able to access quality education provision. However, an ‘informal’ arrangement is not sustainable in the long term and, as such, a more permanent arrangement is required in order to secure ongoing school improvement.
Following discussions held at both Bedlinog Community Primary School and Trelewis Primary School, it has been agreed by both Governing Bodies to establish a formal federation between both schools. The proposal is to establish a formal federation between the schools by 20th April 2020, under the Federation of Maintained Schools (Wales) Regulations 2014.
At the bottom of this page you will find the Consultation document which will outline all the details you will need to know about the Federation process, and what this means for both schools. I would like to highlight at this point that Federation is not an amalgamation, and that both schools will remain in their communities and will continue to provide the same education provision that is in place already.
I trust that the consultation document will answer the majority of your questions however, should you have any further questions or queries that you would like to talk about, we have arranged 2 informal ‘Drop-in’ sessions where Local Councillors, Governors and myself will be available to answer any queries or questions you may have. Parents/Carers are welcome to attend any of the sessions which will be held on the following dates:
The consultation period will run for a period of 6 weeks from 1st October 2019 until 19th November 2019. Any responses should be recorded on the form at the end of the document and either returned to school or sent via post to the address outlined at the end of the form.
May I thank you for your continued support of our school,
Mr R Morgan
Executive Head Teacher
