🌐 E‑Safety Week: Learning to Stay SMART Online
This week in school it's E‑Safety Week, helping children understand how to stay safe, confident, and responsible when using the internet. We’ll be exploring the SMART rules each day to build their awareness step by step.
Today’s focus is the letter S – Safe.
We’ll be talking to the children about the importance of keeping personal information private online. This includes things like their full name, address, school name, passwords, and photos. We’re encouraging them to think carefully before sharing anything and to always check with a trusted adult if they’re unsure.

Supporting Parents With E‑Safety: Keeping Children Safe Online
As a school, we know how quickly technology evolves. New apps, games, and online trends appear almost overnight, and it can be challenging for parents and grandparents to stay up to date with the latest online safety concerns. Keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility, and we want to ensure every family feels confident and informed.
To support our community, we have arranged a free e‑safety awareness session here at the school on Monday 9th February, 14:00 - 15:30. This session is designed specifically for parents and grandparents, offering practical guidance, up‑to‑date information, and simple strategies to help keep children safe while using technology both at home and in school.
👨👩👧👦 What to expect:
Clear, accessible advice on current online risks
Tips for setting boundaries and having conversations about online behaviour
Guidance on privacy, security, and age‑appropriate use
A chance to ask questions and build confidence in supporting your child

February 16, 2026 HALF TERM
This February, we will be joining schools across the UK in celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week (23rd–27th February). The national theme for 2025 is “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”, which encourages children to develop self‑awareness, recognise their strengths, and build resilience for the future.
Self‑awareness: Helping pupils understand their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours.
Resilience: Encouraging children to see challenges as opportunities to grow.
Confidence: Supporting pupils to celebrate their individuality and achievements.
Wellbeing: Promoting positive mental health through activities, discussions, and creative expression
This week is a chance for our whole school community to reflect on the importance of mental health and to empower children to grow into confident, resilient individuals.

Over the course of the project, children will:
Explore rhythm, beat, and musical expression through interactive workshops.
Take part in creative movement activities that build confidence and teamwork.
Learn how music can support wellbeing, focus, and self‑expression.
Work towards a celebratory performance to showcase their new skills.
We look forward to seeing our pupils shine as they take part in this experience.

Our annual School Eisteddfod will take place on Friday 27th February, celebrating Welsh culture, language, and creativity.
Each class will present a special item as part of the event, showcasing the talents of pupils across the school. Performances will include poetry, song, dance, art, and drama, all inspired by Welsh heritage and identity.
The Eisteddfod is a proud tradition at Trelewis Primary School, giving children the chance to shine, build confidence, and share their creativity with the whole community. It promises to be a day filled with pride, celebration, and enjoyment for everyone involved.
Welsh tops and traditional clothing/costumes are to be worn for the day.

This term, our No Outsiders Day will focus on the theme of Race and Heritage. The day is designed to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and help pupils understand the importance of respecting and valuing everyone’s background.
Throughout the day, children will take part in activities and discussions that explore:
The richness of different heritages and cultures within our community.
How race and identity contribute to who we are.
The importance of equality, respect, and standing against discrimination.
Ways to ensure that everyone feels they belong and that there are truly no outsiders in our school.
By engaging with this theme, pupils will develop empathy, pride in their own heritage, and appreciation for the experiences of others. It is a powerful opportunity to strengthen our school’s commitment to inclusion and celebrate the diversity that makes our community so special.
